Smartphone Trial

In this demo we simulate the entry of appointments into a dummy Executive's or colleague's standard Calendar (in this case we use Lotus Notes, but it does exactly the same with Outlook), then you see these entries on your Smartphone. It’s that simple.

Write to us using the Contact Us page if you need help and let us know how well it worked for you.

STEP 1 - adding the mobileX Portal bookmark

In your smartphone's browser add the following bookmark:

There is no need to logon at this stage.

Note: If you do not have a Smartphone, you can simulate this step by using Internet Explorer to use the portal bookmark.

STEP 2 - Simulate an entry being made in a colleague's calendar

Since you don't have access to another colleague's calendar with mobileX yet, we simulate this access by entering or modifying any number of appointments in a dummy calendar which you access as a guest.

Open another browser window on your desktop (not your phone) and access the simulated Executive's Calendar, then:

  • Logon as Guest with the password of mobileX
  • Then click New, to enter a New Appointment or Reminder or Event.....
  • You can also edit or delete entries as you wish.
  • Fill in the calendar entry with some test data and hit Save and Close.

STEP 3 - check the entry on your phone

  • Open the portal bookmark from Step 1 on your phone
  • Logon as Guest with the password of mobileX when prompted
  • Choose the calendar “Mobile Executive”
You can now see the different ways to view calendar entries - Planned, Accepted, All or my TimeZone.
  • Choose “Planned” as the view (which shows tentative and accepted entries together).
  • Move around the days of the calendar by selecting the options and clicking the GO button. November 3, 2011 is a good example and has a few appointments that makes your phone seem “live”.
  • Note the different icons and also the alternate text times, such as "upon landing" etc.
Entries entered or modified on within the last hour will appear with Green Icons. See if you can find the entry you created in Step 2.

Green Icons can alert EAs/PAs to entries that have come from Lotus Notes/Microsoft Outlook or direct from their Executive’s Smartphone. If you return to the calendar via the desktop and delete an entry, these shall appear in mobileX on your phone with RED X icons. mobileX does not have a delete option, but uses a Cancelled status, so you can recover accidentally deleted appointments from Outlook/Notes. Cancelled entries appear under the All view.

  • Open an entry and read the audit history.
  • Entries made by a phone are listed separately (as mobile entries).
  • You can also edit entries on your phone, or create appointments or meetings from your phone.

With mobileX installed in your enterprise you can access as many mailboxes as you have colleagues who are prepared to share them.

Feel free to add entries and change them as you wish. Please create professional entries and update your own entries as other people across the world also use this suite.

We love it. It is the best for a Executive’s diary. MS Outlook is OK for your own bits and pieces but not for the working diary of a Executive. …go for it. Avoid Outlook. PA to Senior Federal Cabinet Minister
